From Darkness to Light—My Journey Before Reiki Healing

If we were sat together with a coffee right now, I’d tell you this with my whole heart—there was a time when I felt completely lost.


I’d spent years in a toxic marriage, constantly putting others before myself, people-pleasing, and struggling with self-worth.


It took everything out of me—anxiety, exhaustion, and that awful knot of dread in my stomach that just wouldn’t go away.


When I finally left, I was a shell of the person I used to be.


I was mentally drained, totally burnt out, and had no idea how to put myself back together.


Then, one day, a mum at the school gates casually asked me, "Have you tried Reiki?" At the time, I didn’t even know what it was, but little did I know, that one suggestion would change my life.


My First Experience with Reiki—Scepticism and Surprises

Here’s the funny thing—I had actually tried Reiki before, but I had no clue what it was.


Years ago, on a spa retreat, I booked in for a session without even reading the description.


I lay on the table, eyes closed, and for most of it, I honestly thought, This is a con, she’s probably sat in the corner flicking the Vs's and laughing at me! 


But then, at the very end, she did an energy sweep from top to toe —and I felt it.


A huge, unexpected release, like a weight lifting off me. I had no idea what had happened, but I felt different.


Fast forward to when my life felt like it had fallen apart, I decided to give Reiki another go—this time with an actual Reiki master. And oh, what a difference that made.


Discovering the True Power of Reiki

The moment I stepped into her treatment room, I felt a shift.


It was warm, cosy, and safe, with a heated bed, soft blankets, and the gentle glow of candles.


From the second she placed her hands on me, I felt a deep sense of peace.



During the session, I saw colours, patterns, and waves of energy moving through me. It was like my body knew this was what it had been craving.


My Reiki master also picked up on things she couldn’t have possibly known, confirming emotions and struggles I hadn’t even spoken about.


Week after week, I kept going back.


At first, I cried through every session, releasing all the years of pain I’d been holding onto.


Then, one day, I noticed something—I wasn’t crying anymore. I was sleeping better.


I felt lighter. The anxiety in my stomach that had been there for years was gone. My life was changing, and for the first time, I felt like me again.



The Turning Point—Becoming a Reiki Healer

A year later, I was a completely different person.


I wasn’t drowning in anxiety anymore.


I’d stopped drinking, started exercising, and was nurturing my relationships.


Even though life still threw challenges my way (hello, ongoing legal battles with the ex!), I handled them with a strength I never knew I had.


That’s when I knew—I wanted to learn Reiki for myself. Not just to keep up my own healing, but to help others, too.


The training process was incredible, and the more I practised, the clearer, calmer, and more me I became.


After 100 hours of self-Reiki, I took the plunge and started my own Reiki practice. And honestly? I’ve never looked back.

  • A Cosy Healing Space – My studio is pure comfort: underfloor heating, a thick, soft, heated bed, fleecy blankets, and gentle candlelight to make you feel totally at ease.

  • Essential Oils Tailored to You – I match essential oils to how you’re feeling that day—grounding oils for your feet, something soothing for the chakras, and a lovely uplifting scent to finish.

  • Guided Meditation & Reiki Healing – I ease you into the session with a guided visualisation before beginning hands-on Reiki, helping your body and mind fully relax.

  • Intuitive Insights & Oracle Cards – At the end, I share any messages or guidance that came through during the session. I’ll also pull an oracle card for you to give you an extra bit of insight.
